June is here and I spilled all that was in my backpack (art-related) on the table in lieu of the “what’s on my art table” - mostly because I’ve been working out of my backpack for part of May and will probably continue in summer - but also - to look what it is that I carry on my shoulders!
May is a peony month in my head - actual peonies are almost gone here in California but I am still getting beautiful photos of peonies from Ukraine and got myself a bouquet too!
Closing of the iris season - I visited an iris garden in a now almost completely sunburnt hills and it was a wonderful sketching break.
Avocados became a much more prominent part of my diet and sketchbook this year. To celebrate I draw them - and in this post I document the fate of two avocados that I did not eat. Gouache and ink are such a joy together!
Thanks for reading, and thanks for looking!

Russia’s attacks on Ukraine intensified during the last weeks. If you want to help Ukraine during these times of uncertainty, I personally support Nova Ukraine, which is bringing humanitarian aid to both humans and animals. Their projects include mobile hospitals, educational resources for schools that continue working (often underground), and support for the elderly.
p.s. If you enjoyed this post, please let me know. It will make my day!
Thank you for your posts which I have enjoyed for sometime.
